As we close out the year, one of our carers captured the moment perfectly: “2025 is ending on a great note.” This is a testament to God’s faithful provision over Hlanganani and the generosity of our partners and donors, who have come together to uplift our children throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who has played a role in making a meaningful difference. We are deeply grateful and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

At the end of each year, the Hlanganani Family “gets together” along with all of those who have helped mentor, tutor, and care for the children throughout the year for a joyous celebration and sometimes a little adventure…

On a bright & cheerful day, the children excitedly gathered into their groups as the guide handed them clipboards and detailed instructions on how to navigate over 3 kilometers of mazes, along with many group challenges along the way. Over the next 90 minutes, the children worked together, solved many puzzles, and all came out victorious in the end! The cold popsicles at the end were a well-deserved reward.

Before receiving their eagerly awaited individualized gifts, each child shared about what they were most grateful for over the past year. Then… Oh, the joy! Never mind waiting until Christmas Day, the minute their presents were received, many children couldn’t wait to see what they had been blessed with in their beautiful bags! The smiles, laughter, and squeals of delight were a joy to behold.

We are so thankful to everyone who made this a joyous and truly unforgettable celebration for the children! (Thank you to Honeydew Mazes, The Good Food Company, & Junction Church for supporting this occasion.)

Dear Hlanganani,

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful Christmas gift🥺🥺🥺. It was so generous and loving of you, and I’m truly touched by your kindness. Your generosity and love mean the world to me, and I’m so grateful to have you in my life.

As the Bible says in Proverbs 11:25, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” The gift has brought me so much joy, and I pray that God will refresh and bless you abundantly. May the Lord return to you a hundredfold all the kindness and love you’ve shown me, and may you be filled with an overflowing measure of His love, peace, and joy.

I’m so grateful for the memories we’ve shared. Thank you again for making my Christmas a little brighter! May God continue to guide and bless you, and may we continue to share many more special moments together.

Warmest thanks and love,

TQ

Each of our 36 children face unique challenges in their educational journeys. For some, this has meant meeting basic needs—such as providing a chair so a 14-year-old could sit comfortably in class rather than on the floor. For others, it has involved academic support, including helping a Grade 3 learner maintain her scholarship by ensuring she receives English and Maths assistance at home. In more complex cases, we support older learners who lack foundational literacy skills, access to technology, or even a stable environment in which to study. At times, the need extends beyond education, such as providing safe accommodation, regular meals, and care for children who have recently lost their primary caregiver.

These realities made it clear that a dedicated, supportive space was essential—one where children could be safe, well cared for, and receive the educational support they need to not only cope, but to thrive. This led to the creation of the Hlanganani Safe House and Tutoring Centre.

Currently, the home is being prepared with three bedrooms for overnight stays and two classrooms for tutoring. Essential upgrades are underway, including installing toilets, refurbishing the kitchen, painting, and furnishing the space with beds, desks, computers, Wi-Fi, and a printer. Located in the heart of the township, this house is being transformed into a place of safety, learning, and belonging.

As we prepare to open in January, we look forward to sharing progress and updates as this vision becomes a reality. A big thank you to our partners for making this dream possible.

We were delighted to partner with Walmart Fourways, the second Walmart to open in South Africa, after they approached us to support children in an impoverished settlement where we assist more than 30 individuals, including orphans and their guardians.

Walmart’s generosity has been instrumental in establishing our new Safe House and Tutoring Centre, through the provision of bunk beds, mattresses, linen, an oven, and essential kitchen items. They have also continued to support Hlanganani with vital food supplies, helping to ensure that no child goes hungry.

Following a questionnaire completed by the children, it was found that half still experience periods of hunger or insufficient access to food. As proper nutrition is essential for children’s well-being and academic success, we are committed to addressing this need.

Over the past quarter, with the support of our valued partners, every child has received additional food assistance. Each food parcel includes nutritious, protein-rich foods, staple items, and vegetables, ensuring consistent and balanced support. Our goal is that no child goes hungry.

As we look forward to 2026, we give thanks to God for His faithfulness and for the partners who make this work possible. May God bless you richly this festive season.
