We have come to the end of a fast and furious year! 2017 flew by… so I greet you with end of year blessings, and a wonderful 2018 to come!
Our children have finished writing exams and headed towards their homelands.
3 matriculants survived their exam ordeal. I hope they have passed! Some children are staying in JHB and some very generous people from Chemuniqué have donated food for those remaining here in Johannesburg for Christmas.
WE HAD A VERY WET CHRISTMAS PARTY!
We were a gathering of 70 people under one shelter! There was supposed to be Adventure Golf but it rained continuously! It was cold and miserable but the children had fun, with word and hand games. Our faithful team and Home Based Carers sat and chatted to the children building relationship (with interpreters helping) and finding out more about them. We are left with plenty of golf tickets to use next year.
If any of you around Johannesburg would like to take a group of children out to do that for the day – you would be so welcome!
We luckily had some food to eat to help entertain us, Spar Bellairs provided Prego rolls and cooldrink and Meadow Feeds generously supplied chicken for the rolls. They ate well!!!!
Thank you to all for the wonderful donated presents from Junction Church Members for all the Diepsloot children and Santa Shoe Box for all the Lanseria and Cosmo City children.
The reward was seeing the happy faces!!!
We have had an awful time with SARS rejecting us for a time and I have a huge thank you to Vincent Laubscher and our team of accountants for sorting the issues out. It was a laborious and tedious job. We are now back on track again.
I have been disappointed with a number of our teenagers “leaving” Hlanganani by going their own route with their own choices and thereby we have refused to support them if they are not playing their part and being responsible and keeping their lives on track. A friend of mine created a super tool to quantify whether a life is on track or not. We do it once a year and compare the results with the previous assessment. School reports also tell a story! This has hastened a decision to accept children below 10 only, to enter into Hlanganani. One therefore can have more time with them and make a greater impact on their lives. This is a long, hard sacrifice made by the Home Based Carers who choose to take the children on. Endless thank you’s go in their direction.
Lanseria International Airport ; a few business CSI spends and private donors have made it possible to continue with our efforts of giving hope to children. This also raises community morale and effectiveness of the leaders who care for the children.
We also have a video for you to enjoy and increase your smile too! Thank you to Flickerleap and one of our Directors for their expertise and time spent doing this.
So a huge thank you to you all and travel safely, returning ready to change the world further than you did this year!!!!
Kind regards ’til next time.
A huge thank you to all sponsors, supporters and interested parties!
