JOB SHADOWING
Ok, so one of the boys wanted to be an astronaut! This was his career choice last year (which I ignored) and this year, which I took to heart. Well, he had an amazing time at the Sandton Convention Center space exhibition where he climbed into a model of Apollo 11 and saw a moon buggy and learnt so much! Then he went to Hartao – the local satellite and radio station where he met a 3x applicant to be an astronaut. So he learnt what he had to do to become one! Then he had a whole evening of understanding the solar system and stargazing with South African’s star man! Who says our kids can’t reach for the stars!
Three of our girls went to the Lanseria airport restaurant; they wanted to be Chefs … well they had to learn the hard part of … waitress; drinks provider and cook. Another went to a chartered accounting firm. What a good experience to know if you really want to do this or not. Any child above 15 is encouraged to start exploring the career world by job shadowing to give them a greater idea of what is out there.
I have been to see some of our supporters in Kamloops Canada and Munich Germany. I had such an awesome time of being covered in prayer and encouragement. They were happy to hear of the progress and journey that we are on.
CHILDREN
We have 60 children on the books now with 10 Home Based Carers … 30 children in Diepsloot and 30 in Lanseria. Lanseria International Airport have supported us financially and so we have been able to expand rapidly into that area. 2 new home-based carers were trained by a just trained HBCarer, and they passed with flying colours. The more HBCarers we have the more children we can oversee.
SAFE HOUSE
On the Diepsloot side, the safe house has had renovations done to the outside rooms: leaking roof replaced; ceilings put in; electricity made compliant; lights fitted; blinds erected; walls painted and toilets fixed. Not only that, then an able angel fitted computer tables- ready to put our donated computers on for the homework room. IT guys we ready for you! How awesome is that!
SAFE HOUSE
Please pray for the kids to learn and grow in steadfastness, as their education and effort are really at a low! The environment is not conducive to learning and distractions are everywhere! We have two matrics writing this year. Thabo and Samuel – may God be with you
