The year is into full swing and it’s time for the first term to come to an end. All children have uniforms and stationery and are attending school. All is well so far.
Good News!!! Two Matriculants passed 2018. One is attending UJ studying for a BCom. He is our very first Bachelor’s pass for matric. The other matriculant is training at Nurses Training College. We wish them well in their studies!
The two other matriculants that need to write supplementary exams in April are in the mean time being trained to be Home Based Carers for Hlanganani! This helps them to feel worthwhile and keeps them on track. They also are going to interviews for odd jobs/learnerships that may be available for them. Thank you to those who care to take them for interviews and interviewing them.
We have 4 new trainees to be home based carers – lets hope they will be fruitful. They have spent 6 sessions learning about compassion and confidentiality; health and nutrition; counselling; medicines and HIV; mentoring and discipline. They write a test this very afternoon. 80% to pass. No one becomes a home based carer without doing this training.
We have unfortunately come to the end of our 3year cycle of sponsorship from Lanseria International airport. This means we have to apply again. Our whole Lanseria side of Hlanganani is dependent on them and should they not agree – that side of operations will fold. So please keep us in your prayers. That side supports 40 children at the moment. The rest of the donations are a little from a few faithful sponsors. Our future is in your hands.
The Junction Church has taken us under their wing with regards to spiritual support and mentoring of the children. Some children attended the “Power” weekend at the church. We pray it was life changing for them and that God is a firm foundation in their lives. Keep praying for them all.
